Scoring Woes Continues for the Bruins

It was a night of missed opportunities for the  Estevan Bruins as they were defeated by the Yorkton Terriers 4-1.

Both teams had chances to score in the first period but Yorkton was the first team to capitalize as Zak Majkowski scored on the powerplay to give the Terriers the lead.

In the second period, the Bruins still had plenty of chances to capitalize including a couple of powerplays along with some odd man rushes but were unable to beat Yorkton's Kale Thomson. The Terriers would extend their lead as Patrick Martens picked off Curtis Martinu's pass and beat him top shelf. The Terriers would make it 3-0 when Tyler Giebel scored for the Terriers.

The Bruins would make a game of it in the third period as Cole Olson scored to cut the deficit to 3-1. Late in the game with just over five minutes left the Bruins had a 5 on 3 powerplay for 1:47 but were unable to score on the two man advantage. Martens would add an empty netter for Yorkton to make the final 4-1.

The Bruins went 0 for 10 on the powerplay while Yorkton was 2 for 8. Curtis Martinu made 32 saves for the Bruins in the loss.

Next action for the Bruins is Friday when they head to Melfort to meet the Mustangs. Coverage on CJ1280 begins at 7:20.
