Bruins Explosive in 6-4 Win over Bombers





The CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins kicked off a crucial homestand with a strong 6-4 win over the Flin Flon Bombers at Spectra Place.

The game got off to a fast start with no whistles for the first 5:35. The Bruins controlled the majority of the play and began to play with a physical edge. The Bruins opened up the scoring on the powerplay as the Bruins powerplay unit made three quick passes which lead to the puck on Cole Olson's stick and he buried it to make it 1-0.

The Bruins extended their lead a minute later as Taylor Reich and finished off a 2 on 1 from Tanner Froese and extended the lead to 2-0. 90 seconds later the Bruins made it 3-0 got a breakaway and buried a shot top shelf past the Bombers Devon Buffalo.

Before the end of the period the Bombers began a comeback as Spencer Mault scored on an odd man rush and then Josh Roach scored from the point on the powerplay.

In the second period after the Bombers scored early to tie it up but about two minutes later Matt Brykaliuk took a pass from Tyler Kauk and buried a shot top shelf to regain the lead for the Bruins. Under a minute later the Bruins regained the two goal lead as Hudson Morrison created a turnover in the neutral zone and carried the puck in and buried a backhand shot top shelf to make it 5-3. Before the end of the second the Bombers scored again 5-4.

There was only one goal in the third period as Brykaliuk chased down the loose puck and got in behind the defence and banked a shot of the goalie and in the post and into the net as the Bruins made the final 6-4.

The Bruins powerplay went 1 for 3 and Curtis Martinu made 23 saves for the win.

The Bruins are back in action tonight as they host Battlefords at 7:30 at Spectra Place.
