Smith and Olson Lead Bruins to 4-3 Win over Hounds
The CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins powerplay has struggled this season but last night it was a big reason for the Bruins 4-3 win over Notre Dame.
The Bruins were trailing after the first period as the Hounds scored the only goal in the first period. The Hounds would extend their lead to 2-0 before the Bruins got a 5 on 3 powerplay for 1:20 in the middle of the second period.
Dylan Smith in his first game at Spectra Place since being reacquired at last week's trading deadline took the puck and skated into the slot and buried a shot past Ty Reichenbach to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Bruins would tie the game up later in the powerplay as Tyler Kauk unleased a bomb from the blue line that found the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2.
Notre Dame would regain the lead on the powerplay as Brandon Millin managed to score on a loose rebound with one second left in a powerplay and the Hounds lead 3-2.
But the Bruins were able to tie it shorthanded as Smith forced a turnover inside of the Hounds zone and gave Olson a great and #23 for the Bruins finished off the play to tie the game at 3-3 heading into the final period.
The Bruins were able to grab the lead in the third as Olson was on the recieving end of a great pass, this time Alex Cote found Olson all alone in front of the net and Olson tapped the puck in the net to give the Bruins the win.
Curtis Martinu picked up the win as he made 17 saves. The Bruins powerplay went 2 for 5.
