It has been a frustrating start to 2013 for the Bruins. The Bruins have dropped their first four games back from the
Christmas holidays and now head into the January 10th trade deadline
with a lot of questions.
The Bruins were carrying momentum into
the Christmas holidays after winning four out of their last six but
after a couple of home and home sweeps at the hands to the Weyburn Red
Wings and Melville Millionaires, the Bruins are left looking for
answers.
Forward Nick Weiss believes the team is lacking mental
toughness and this was evident in the Bruins loss on Saturday to
Melville. The Bruins gave up a pair of goals to the Millionaires 20
seconds apart along with the Mils scoring 12 seconds after the Bruins
made it a one goal game late in the second period.
Weiss added
the team's defence has taken a step back since the Christmas holidays.
The Bruins have allowed several odd man rushes which has lead to some
goals for the Red Wings and Millionaires.
It hasn't been all bad
for the Bruins since the Christmas holidays. Weiss and Hudson Morrison
are two players who have stepped up with each scoring four goals in his
last three games. Weiss has taken a role much similar to the one Matthew
Dochylo- Josh Jelinski and Tyler Paslawski took on last season by
providing a consistent hardworking effort that is effective at both ends
of the ice.
With the Bruins play since the holidays, many
players are wondering about their future with the Janaury 10th deadline
only a couple of days away. Weiss says the players can't worry about
what they can't control and they have to keep working hard in practice
and get ready for the next game.
The Bruins begin an important
road trip this weekend as they will travel to Battlefords on Friday and
then that's followed by a huge divisional game in Kindersley on
Saturday. You can catch both games on CJ1280 beginning at 7:20.
