Bruins Crushed By Melville in Season Opener


The CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins season got off to a horrible start as they were hammered by the Melville Millionaires 10-2.

Melville got a quick goal at the 1:11 mark of the first period with Colin Mospanchuk scoring the first goal of the SJHL season to give the Millionaires a lead. The Mils added to their lead with Sean Aschim scoring his for first of three on the night to make it 2-0 after the first period.

In the second period the Millionaires took control of the game scoring four times to extend their lead to 6-0. After the sixth goal Curtis Martinu was pulled and Travis Pelletier came in relief for the Bruins.

In the third period after Melville made it 7-0 the Bruins finally got on the scoreboard when Tanner Froese scored for the Bruins. The Millionaires wouldn't let up as they replied to make it 8-1. Nick Sova scored for the Bruins to make it 8-2.

Melville ended off the game with three unanswered goals to make the final 11-2. The Bruins went 1 for 6 on the power play while Melville went 1 for 4.

The Bruins will be looking to get some revenge against in the back end of the home and home set Friday night at Spectra Place. The Bruins have a pregame show that will begin at 7:00 and it will include fireworks, video and much more.

Opening faceoff is set for 7:30.
