Red Wings Beat Bruins 4-3 in Preseason Action

The CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins were defeated by the Weyburn Red Wings 4-3 in preseason action.

The Bruins opened up the scoring very early in the first period when Tanner Froese scored. Before the end of the first period the Red Wings would respond and tied the game at 1-1.

In the second period after the Red Wings opened up the period with the goal the Bruins came back with a pair of their own. First it was Hudson Morrison on the powerplay and shortly afterwards Nick Weiss gave the Bruins scored and gave the lead 3-2. But before the second period came to an end the Red Wings scored to tie the game at 3-3.

The Bruins had their chances to claim the lead in third, including Matt Brykaliuk who hit the post on one scoring chance. But with 4:30 left in the third period, the Red Wings managed to squeak one in and won the game 3-2.

Cody Murray played the entire game for the Bruins making 23 saves for Estevan. The Bruins were resting a lot of their veterans including Cole Olson, Calder Neufeld, Austin Yano, Tyler Kauk, Tyler Paslawski and Connor Milligan.

Making their preseason debut was the line of Brykaliuk, Froese and Taylor Reich.The trio provided plenty of scoring chances and are looking like the second line the Bruins will be counting on to provide secondary scoring this season.

The Bruins finish the preseason on Monday night at home against Notre Dame.
