Bruins vs Ice Wolves Preview

For the third time this season and for the first time in Estevan, the Bruins will meet the La Ronge Ice Wolves tonight. The Bruins and Ice Wolves split their back to back matchups last month in La Ronge. The two teams will meet one more time back at Spectra Place on January 13.

The Bruins are coming off a week long break, with their last game a week ago today when the Bruins were defeated by the Millionaires 5-4 in Melville. The Bruins were without Captain Josh Jelinski and Austin Yano in the game, and both Matt Dochylo and Connor Milligan went down with injuries. I have been sick all week so I don't have much for updates on those players. I would think guessing from last week that Yano and Dochylo would be good to go for tonight. Jelinski and Milligan status is more up in the air.

Dylan Smith continues to find no trouble putting the puck into the net. The SJHL Player of the Week has scored in each of his last six games and in that span has picked up 15 points. Smith heads into the game on top of the SJHL scoring lead with 40 points.

Dominic Perrault had a great week last week and was a runner up of the SJHL defenceman of the week. Perrault scored the game winner against Notre Dame last Wednesday, provided a pair of assists against Melfort and logged a lot of minutes last Saturday against Melville when the Bruins were down to 5 d-men. He also scored a powerplay goal in the loss.

The Bruins got all three goalies some action last week, so it will be interesting to see who will get the start tonight. The Bruins will follow up tonight's game with a matchup against Notre Dame on Tuesday, followed by back to back games against Kindersley and Battlefords next weekend, so all of the goalies should get some playing time this week.

The La Ronge Ice Wolves will head into action tonight on the heels of a 5-4 shootout loss in Weyburn last night. The two time defending league champions added a couple of big pieces to their lineup over the last couple of days. Last year's MVP Marc-Andre Carre returns after a stint in the CHL, he picked up an assist last night in Weyburn. The also added  Zac Ashdown from the Dawson Creek Rage and he picked up a goal last night.

Opening faceoff is 7:30 at Spectra Place, and if you can't make it to the rink tonight, make sure you check out the webcast tonight.
