Bruins Defeat Ice Wolves 5-2

It was a big night for Matt Brykaliuk as he returned to the Bruins lineup after missing the last month with a shoulder injury. He scored a pair of goals to lead the Bruins to a 5-2 win over the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

The Bruins had their chances to get the first goal of the game but couldn't capitalize on a couple of early power play chances. It was La Ronge who opened up the scoring as Braden Oleskyn squeaked a puck past Curtis Martinu to give the Ice Wolves a 1-0 lead.

The Bruins did respond as Brykaliuk managed a nice toe drag past an Ice Wolves defender and got the snap shot past La Ronge's Dasan Sydora to tie the game at 1-1. The Bruins would take the lead a 1:16 later as Austin Daae took the puck from the corner and skated in front to bury a shot past Sydora to give the Bruins the 2-1 lead after one period.

The Bruins didn't get off to the start that they wanted to in the second as La Ronge tied the game when Graham Smerek banged home a loose rebound to tie the game 2-2.

The Bruins regained the lead in the second period when Tyler Paslawski found the loose puck in front and scored his 6th goal of the season as the Bruins lead 3-2 after 40 minutes.

Estevan got the insurance goal they were looking for when Hudson Morrison snuck a shot just under the crossbar to make the score 4-2. The Bruins would wrap up the scoring as Brykaliuk scored his 2nd of the night to give the Bruins a the 5-2 win.

Curtis Martinu returned to the lineup after serving a three game suspension and picked up the win with 27 saves. The Bruins went 2 for 6 on the powerplay.

Next action for the Bruins is tonight when they host the Kindersley Klippers at 7:30. The Bruins also added some defensive depth as they added 19 year old d-man Leighton McLachlan from the Drumheller Dragons for future considerations. McLachlan has spent time with Drumheller and Fort McMurray this season playing in 19 games with no points and 74 PM's.
