Bruins vs Mils Preview

Last Meeting

The two teams met in a home and home set on the opening weekend of the season. Melville won  the opening game in Melville 10-2. The following night it was a much closer game at Spectra Place as the Bruins lost 4-2 with the fourth goal a result of an empty netter.Nick Weiss had both goals for the Bruins.

Latest News

Bruins- The Bruins are coming off a shootout victory over the Kindersley Klippers. Much like the week before against Nipawin at home, the Bruins had a solid opening 40 minutes but the Klippers were able to come from behind and tie the game at 4-4. Austin Daae scored the lone shootout goal in the win. The Bruins will have a 10 day break after tonight and it comes at a good time with Calder Neufeld, Matt Brykaliuk and Steven Glass sidelined with injuries.

Mils- After storming out the gates with a 13-2-1 record the Mils have lost their last three games. Two of the losses came up north in La Ronge and Flin Flon which has become a nightmare trip for the Sherwood Conference teams. The Mils will get TJ Reeve back in their lineup as he's been with Team Canada West for the World Junior A Challenge for the last couple of weeks.

Keep An Eye Out For

Bruins-Cole Olson. Olson struggled early in the season getting on the scoreboard, it also didn't help his linemate from last season Calder Neufeld has been out with an ankle injury for over a month. But since being put on a line with Austin Daae and Tanner Froese, Olson has been producing points wise. In the last two games he's picked up three goals.

Mils- Ian McNulty. One of the favorites for the SJHL scoring title hasn't disappointed so far this season. He has 9 goals and 21 assists and is one of the leaders on a deep group of forwards for Melville that includes Russell Trudeau and Sean Aschim among others.
