Bruins and Hawks Set To Renew Rivalry

The CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins will begin an important road trip tonight as they face the Nipawin Hawks tonight.

The Buins are coming off a pair of come from behind wins this week as they defeated the Battlefords 4-3 in a shootout on Sunday and  Notre Dame on Tuesday 4-3.

The line of Dylan Smith, Cole Olson and Alex Cote have been leading the way on the scoresheet. On Tuesday the line was able to combine for 8 points in the win over Notre Dame and were able to score a pair of goals on the powerplay.

The Bruins are expecting to get some help on the blueline as defenceman Nick Egan is expected to make his debut this weekend for the Bruins. Egan will be a welcome addition for the Bruins with defenceman David Robertson suffering a wrist injury in Tuesday's game against the Hounds.

The Bruins and Hawks have developed an intense rivalry. Last time the Bruins faced the Hawks, Curtis Martinu took a match penalty which resulted in a three game suspension. Another reason for the heated rivalry is that there are a few former players on each side. Ben Johnstone and Jesse Bernard now play for the Hawks while the Bruins Tyler Paslawski  started his career in Nipawin.

After this weekend's roadtrip, the Bruins will have a nice schedule down the stretch drive as they play 11 of their final 15 games at Spectra Place.

You can catch tonight's game on CJ1280 and discoverestevan.com beginning at 7:20.
