Bruins Hang On For 5-3 win over Notre Dame *Updated Audio with Keith Cassidy and Tanner Froese*




The CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins were able to pick up a win home ice as they defeated the Notre Dame Hounds 5-3 last night.

In the opening minutes the Bruins Curtis Martinu was called upon to make some make big saves against the Hounds to keep it scoreless. The Bruins would open the scoring in the first period when Darcy DeRoose took advantage of a Hounds turnover inside of their own end and buried his 10th of the season to give the Bruins the 1-0 lead. The Hounds would tie it up shortly afterwards to make it 1-1.

Calder Neufeld made his return to the Bruins lineup last night and made an impact late in the first period as he assisted on Dylan Smith's powerplay goal as the Bruins 2-1 after one period.

The Bruins restored their two goal lead as Tanner Froese snapped a scoring slump as he picked up his 11th on the year to make it 3-1.

Estevan made it 4-1 when Alex Cote took advantage of a great pass from Cole Olson and scored. As the Bruins entered the locker room in the third period with a three goal cushion.

The Hounds would make things interesting in the third period as they scored a pair of goals to cut the lead to 4-3 but with over a minute remaining, the Hounds Ty Reichenbach's pass was knocked down by Froese and went back into the net to make the final 5-3.

Martinu made 24 saves to register the win, the Bruins powerplay went 1 for 5 on the extra man advantage.

Next action for the Bruins is Saturday when they host Melfort.
