The Bruins were playing on their heels in the beginning of the second period but Curtis Martinu answered the bell and kept the game at 1-0 after two periods as neither team scored in the second period.

In the third period, the Bruins dominated the play once again as they had a lot of quality scoring chances but Johnson continued to make save after save on the Bruins. But the Bruins were able to tie it up as Alex Cote drove to the net from and got tripped by a Mustang defenceman, while the penalty was about to be called Dylan Smith took the loose puck and scored his fourth goal since returning to the Bruins.

The teams went into overtime and with less than a minute Godric Tham got a shot past Martinu on the glove side for the win.
