Tuesday Thoughts

-- Another sign the football season is almost here. My Rider tickets arrived in the mail today. Hard to believe but the first exhibition game is about 7 weeks away.

-- Someone has to explain to me why Raffi Torres got suspended for his hit on Jordan Eberle and not suspended for his hit on Brent Seabrook. I would like to know the formula Colin Campbell uses when making a suspension.

-- The NHL is signing on with NBC and Versus for 10 years. Apparently Versus is changing their name in the next 90 days. One highlight from NBC is a nationally televised game on the Friday after the American Thanksgiving.

-- My rookie of the year pick. Jeff Skinner of Carolina. Still how does Michael Grabner get released from Florida in training camp?

-- I said before Jason Arnott was the best move near the trading deadline, a close second would be Mike Fisher. Worst move at the deadline..a tie between Dustin Penner going to LA and Brad Richards not getting traded from Dallas.

-- Are the Canucks that good or the are Blackhawks that bad? I say it's a combination of both, but the Canucks will face tougher competition next round guaranteed.

-- The rumor is the first NFL game this season is Green Bay vs New Orleans as long as there is no lockout. I think that's a good way to start the season.

-- One of the greatest, if not the greatest UFC fighter Randy Couture is likely going to call it quits after his match with Lyoto Machida in Toronto on April 30. It just makes a great card in Toronto that much better. This upcoming UFC might be the best one since UFC 100 if you ask me.
